Wound first aid guide

Take or upload a photo and get general first aid information for that kind of wound.

This is not a diagnosis and not medical advice. It is a student project that guesses what kind of wound a photo shows, and it can be wrong. It cannot see infection, depth, or anything under the skin. If you are worried about an injury, see a medical professional, whatever this page says.

Check a photo

Your photo is sent for analysis and is not saved anywhere — not by us, and not in the tool. It is not stored, not logged, and nobody on our team ever sees it.

Get close: fill the picture with the injury. Photos taken from further back are much more likely to come back “not sure”.

How this works

  1. No person looks at your photo. A computer model compares it with labeled photos of wounds and picks the closest match.
  2. It tells you how sure it is. When it is not sure, it says so instead of guessing.
  3. It gives general first aid steps for that kind of wound. This is not a diagnosis, and it can be wrong.
  4. Your phone makes the photo smaller and sends it to our own server, which passes it to the model and sends back the answer. The photo is never saved, never written to a log, and nobody on our team ever sees it. We keep only the wound type and the confidence number, with no name attached.

Get medical care now if any of these are true

  • Bleeding that will not stop after 10 minutes of firm pressure
  • The wound is deep or gaping, or you can see fat, muscle or bone
  • Spreading redness, warmth, pus, or a fever — these are signs of infection
  • Numbness, or you cannot move the part normally
  • An animal or human bite, or a dirty puncture wound
  • A burn that is large, or on the face, hands, feet, genitals, or across a joint
  • A burn that looks white, leathery or charred, or that does not hurt
  • You are not up to date on tetanus

Call 911 for heavy bleeding that will not stop, a severe burn, or if someone is confused, pale and breathing fast.
